Innovation Awards Laser Technology 2020, 2022 presented

Outstanding innovations in laser technology were presented and honored in the Coronation Hall of Aachen’s city hall on May 4, 2022 in front of around three hundred guests. This year's winners of the 10,000-euros award are Dr Boris Regaard of Trumpf (2020) and Stefan Wolf of Primes.

Prism Awards celebrate innovative photonics technologies

The 14th annual ceremony showcased a dynamic range of companies – from Luxexcel, PlenOptika, and Lumotive, to SWIR, LightPath Technologies, and ColdQuanta — applying innovative and creative solutions to critical problems in areas such as augmented and virtual reality, biomedical devices, autonomous vehicles, quantum, and industrial lasers.

Martin Dawson receives award for micro-LED research

The director of research at Strathclyde’s Institute of Photonics  and also  head of the Strathclyde-hosted Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics, Professor Martin Dawson, has been named as the 2021 winner of the Global SSL Award of Outstanding Achievement by the International SSL Alliance (ISA).

Young researcher award for innovative theses presented

Clean water, the elimination of space debris, new methods for medical endoscopy, and more powerful lasers – once again innovative theses with a special connection to applied photonics were honored with the Applied Photonics Award, the young researcher award by the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF. The award was presented to the four prize winners on September 29 virtually by Nobel Prize winner Reinhard Genzel as part of the Photonics Days Jena.
