Stereo camera detects small parts in automation and logistics

Photo

An integrated pattern projector optimises the capture of difficult parts or scenes with low visual texture. The included software library ensures compatibility with GigE Vision and GenICam standards, allowing flexible integration with custom applications and third-party 3D software.

The BVS 3D-RV1 stereo camera features 12 MPixel global shutter CMOS sensors for the detection and handling of small parts even in large coverage areas with recommended working distances of up to 4 m. Correspondingly detailed point clouds as well as depth, confidence and defect images provide the basis for complex automation tasks.

The image data for depth image calculation is transmitted in parallel via 2 GigE interfaces, achieving repetition rates of up to 9 Hz depending on the resolution and GPU computing power. The camera operates according to the GigE Vision standard and offers a GenICam-compatible software interface. This provides a high degree of flexibility for the user, who can create his or her own applications both with the SGM Producer library supplied and with compatible software from third-party suppliers such as Halcon or OpenCV.

With its robust IP54 design and passive cooling, the camera is optimised for industrial environmental conditions. If the objects to be captured or the working environment have little or no texture, the integrated pattern projector increases the information density and improves stereo matching.
