IDS: New Pixel Technology plus USB 3.0 Interface

The new USB 3 uEye CP 3580 is set to impress: Crystal-clear images thanks to the Aptina 5 Megapixel CMOS color sensor with new A-Pix pixel technology and breath-taking data transfer speeds due to the superfast USB 3.0 interface. Two technologies of the future combined in one camera.

The new pixel technology is based on process and structure enhancements, including optimized microlenses, lightguides and anti-reflective coatings. The light now enters the lightguide and is confined into a narrow and collimated beam and directed through the individual layers into a deep photodiode that absorbs all light without any losses through reflections. Changing the metal layer from aluminum oxide to copper oxide significantly reduced the thickness of the layers and avoids reflections. The process and structure improvements resulted in a 30 % sensitivity increase of red and green. An additional advantage is a greatly reduced noise.

Due to its outstanding sensor features the UI-3580 is particularly suited for all applications that require highest accuracy in color rendering and also for 3D and multi-camera systems due to the superfast USB 3.0 interface.

The new sensor is also available for the USB 2.0 and GigE camera families from IDS.
