High-Speed Cameras with 1.3 Megapixel

Machine vision specialist IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH announces the release of new camera models featuring a 1.3 Megapixel global shutter CMOS sensor. The innovative imaging sensor developed by E2V combines the advantages of CCD technology, such as excellent light sensitivity and color fidelity, with a high frame rate of up to 60 fps and the functional benefits of a CMOS sensor.

With its pixel size of 5.3 µm and its intelligent design, the 1/1.8" sensor from E2V provides a significantly higher sensitivity than comparable CCD sensors. The new CMOS version rivals CCD technology also in color fidelity, which was previously a CCD domain. The sensor is available in monochrome and color. Its global shutter system makes it easy to capture sharp images even of moving objects - as opposed to most CMOS models currently on the market which, due to the rolling shutter method, are only of limited suitability for this type of image capture.

As a CMOS camera is simpler in construction and design than a comparable CCD camera, CMOS models also offer a clearly better price/performance ratio.

You can find here further information on the new camera models.
