The use of camera lenses from the photography sector also offers advantages in industrial applications. As branded products with an attractive price-performance ratio, they are available worldwide in a wide variety of models. Baumer is consistently following Canon’s development toward the RF lens mount for mirrorless imaging.

The RF mount offers advantages for the machine vision sector: a more compact design, access to new lenses with higher light intensity, and fast, precise focus control via focus-by-wire. This is particularly noticeable in dynamic applications.
Under license from Canon, camera models in the high-performance LX series have been developed that fully integrate the RF mount—without adapters or additional cables. Lens control is integrated directly into the camera, both mechanically and electrically. Standardized functions according to OOCI enable easy configuration and seamless integration into existing GenICam environments.

The RF mount is available in LX cameras with up to 65 MP. Combined with the powerful 10-GigE interface, even high-resolution images remain manageable during fast processes. The solution addresses a wide range of applications—particularly where working distances change flexibly. A typical example is packaging aggregation in the pharmaceutical industry.
