Automatically measure railway straps

The rail straps connect two rails with each other and must be as straight and level as possible.

Both the deflection and possible distortion of the link plates are determined in a measuring cell developed by Mills CNC for the measurement task. An OptoNCDT 1750 laser sensor is mounted on a robot for this measurement task. The sensor offers a large measuring range of 750 mm. Thanks to the compact sensor design and direct data output without an external controller, integration is easy.
