Aimess: Fast accuracy testing of measurement systems and machine tools

Measurement systems and machine tools must be calibrated and monitored on a regular base to make sure that they are working accurately. The monitoring should be done in a fast and cost-effective way. Aimess has developed a range of convenient, customizable and temperature-independent artifacts that fulfil these requirements: With the help of Aimess' Tetronom artifact, it is possible to verify the accuracy within only five minutes. Thus, accuracy deviations slipping in between regular maintenance intervals can be detected immediately.

The Tetronom, which comprises six individual bars, is a 3D artifact with a tetrahedral shape. Due to its three-dimensional design, it enables very efficient testing of 3D measuring machines and machine tools: With just one set-up, probing deviations as well as measuring scale and perpendicularity conditions can be checked. Furthermore, it allows for direct comparison of different measuring systems.

The Tetronom fulfils all requirements for artefacts according to VDI/VDE guidelines 2617 and 2634, as well as to the standard DIN EN ISO 10360. It can be used for monitoring the following systems: coordinate measurement systems, measuring arms, laser trackers, scanning systems, tactile online photogrammetry, optical online photogrammetry, offline photogrammetry, machine tools, and robots.
