5G millimeter wave small cell test solution

Rohde & Schwarz has added a new option for small cell tests to the R&S CMP200 radio communication tester.

Qualcomm Technologies has validated the solution and it is now supported by the Qualcomm Development Acceleration Resource Toolkit (QDART) for Small Cells. Small cell infrastructure manufacturers who integrate the Qualcomm FSM100 5G RAN platform into their products can therefore be sure that the R&S CMP200 meets all relevant test requirements for hardware development and production.

The R&S CMP200 is a non-signaling solution for RF parameter testing in the 5G millimeter wave range. As an IF tester, it combines the functionalities of a vector signal analyzer and an arbitrary generator. Depending on customer requirements, the compact, integrated solution can be equipped with up to three R&S CMPHEAD30 Remote Radio Heads (RRH) for upconverting and downconverting signals in the 5G FR2 frequency range. The concept with a separate one-box tester and R&S CMPHEAD30 RRH enables short RF cable connections for an optimized power transmission budget in over-the-air (OTA) test environments. This concept allows testing of complete FR2 devices and assembled RFICs with both IF and millimeter wave RF interfaces.
