Zeiss acquires GOM

Zeiss has bought GOM, a provider of hardware and software for automated 3D coordinate metrology. Both Zeiss and GOM have experienced strong growth in recent years and have successfully asserted themselves on the market. The aim is to jointly expand this leading technological position - especially in the field of optical digitization systems. The combination of existing products and solutions as well as future joint new developments should form the basis for the design and development of new markets.

 

The combination of Zeiss' product portfolio with GOM's optical 3D measurement technology has the potential to open up new opportunities and market access in the Industrial Quality & Research sector. After completion of the transaction, GOM will become part of the Zeiss Industrial Quality & Research division (sales 2017/18: 1.549 billion euros). The legal form of the GOM companies in Germany and abroad should be preserved. The successful cooperation with the worldwide distribution partners will be continued. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2019, subject to regulatory approval. On the financial details, both sides have agreed silence.
