Wenglor: Sales exceed 100 million euros for the first time

For the first time, the sensor and machine vision specialist Wenglor has "clearly exceeded the revenue mark of 100 million euros" in fiscal year 2021.

By mid-December 2021, 100 million euros in sales were already on the books, explains sensor manufacturer Wenglor. "We are very proud to have clearly exceeded the 100 million euro sales mark," says Wenglor Managing Director Fabian Baur. To that end, the company's approximately 1,000 employees have shipped more than 2 million products.

"Not only the demand for high-performance sensor products, but also for smart 2D/3D machine vision technologies was incredibly high last year. This is why we were able to grow by a total of over 25 percent in the two divisions "Camtec" and "Sensortec". Thanks to intelligent and forward-looking warehouse planning, we were able to meet this extensive demand without any gaps and even build up valuable inventories," explains Baur.

The strongest growth drivers last year were the sales companies in Asia and Europe. On all continents, Wenglor recorded at least double-digit growth rates. Sales subsidiaries in 28 countries in Europe, Asia and America now belong to the wenglor group of companies. Development and production sites in Munich, Sibiu (Romania), Samara (Russia), Perth (Scotland) and La Chevroliere (France) complement the company headquarters in Tettnang.

40 percent increase in sales at the beginning of 2022

In the first weeks of the new year, Wenglor recorded a 40 percent increase in sales compared to the previous year. The company is correspondingly optimistic for 2022.

In the summer of 2021, Wenglor acquired the Scottish-French lighting expert TPL Vision. New buildings will also be completed this year in Tettnang and in Munich (near the airport) to accommodate the increased number of employees and the required production space. For the first time, the company headquarters in Tettnang will have its own canteen for employees.

Industry independence pays off

Many years before the current procurement crisis and the additional turbulence caused by the corona pandemic, Wenglor set itself the goal of being as independent as possible from individual industries. The company therefore not only supplies customers from the automotive and electronics industries, but also from the wood, metal, food, pharmaceutical, logistics, aviation and textile industries.

"While demand in the automotive sector slowed down somewhat at times, sales exploded, for example, in the area of e-commerce and the associated intralogistics, as well as in the food and packaging industries. In addition, new markets such as alternative energies or recycling increasingly came into focus and were able to record above-average growth rates," explains Fabian Baur. "This has enabled us to grow steadily and sustainably independently of individual industries. For us, this independence means entrepreneurial freedom and long-term future security as an employer."
