Rodriguez improves its environmental management
20.02.2023 - In a one-year project phase with the consulting programme Ökoprofit, the company learned how to use resources efficiently and save costs.
As part of the programme, Rodriguez has implemented a variety of measures - for example in the area of compressed air efficiency. The investment in two more efficient compressors made it possible to reduce the energy demand per standard cubic metre by 0.26k Wh. The compressed air line system is regularly checked for leaks, and all manual compressed air consumers have been replaced by individual solutions such as hand guns or nozzle rings. This measure alone not only results in cost reductions of around 23,000 euros per year, but also saves 43 tonnes of CO2.
Another measure relates to waste disposal: it is carried out at longer intervals so that a direct cost saving could be achieved. The use of cloth instead of paper towels in production leads to a reduction in paper waste. In addition, Rodriguez has gradually switched to digital invoicing - resulting in both cost and CO2 savings.
Further investments are planned, such as the investment in a demand-oriented heating system in the main factory. After completion of the new building, a hall lighting concept is to be developed. In addition, Rodriguez wants to completely substitute oxygen and acetylene gas with a mobile soft annealing centre. Last but not least, a new surface grinding machine is to be implemented, which will optimise the vertical range of manufacture.
The consulting programme Ökoprofit helps companies and institutions to establish a practicable and at the same time highly efficient environmental management system. The goal is to reconcile ecological benefit and economic gain. During the one-year project phase, the participants work actively with external help to optimise the company's environmental and energy management. The aim of the programme is to save costs by using resources efficiently.
