Laser Components introduces the new head of the Detector Group

In January 2021, Dr Raj Chakraborty took over the Laser Components Detector Group from Dragan Grubisic, who was retiring from day-to-day operations after 17 years at the helm, but will continue to be available to the company for development projects.

As Operations Manager, Chakraborty has worked closely with his predecessor since 2018. In this role, he managed the day-to-day operations of the production and engineering teams. He expanded the team’s core competencies and increased the number of employees from 27 to 40. Chakraborty has more than 24 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. During this time he worked for various Fortune 500 companies in the areas of engineering, production and senior management. As an expert in lean manufacturing, he was instrumental in planning the new company building in Chandler, Arizona, which was completed in late 2020.

Grubisic’s expertise in detector development played a decisive role in the expansion of the product portfolio and the continuous growth of the company. Under his leadership, the Detector Group grew from a small production facility with just a few employees to one of the group's most important locations.
