Electrical and digital industry calls for strategy for Europe's digital sovereignty
The French and German electrical and digital industry associations, FIEEC and ZVEI, are calling for a proactive strategy for Europe's digital sovereignty

At the Summit on European Digital Sovereignty in Berlin, they emphasized the importance of innovation, open markets and international cooperation. Wolfgang Weber, Chairman of the ZVEI Executive Board, called for a paradigm shift towards strengthening European industrial strengths and the next generation of digital technologies. One focus is on integrating industrial AI into innovation strategies and avoiding double regulation in the AI Act.
Open, secure data spaces and the protection of business secrets are equally important. There are also calls for the expansion of cybersecurity and the microelectronics ecosystem. Improved framework conditions such as a regulatory pause and competitive electricity prices are crucial. The associations emphasize the need for increased support for industrial innovation and financing through the Capital Markets Union.
