AMS Technologies acquires Bay Photonics
Bay Photonics remains with team, management and location
AMS Technologies acquires Bay Photonics to strengthen its capabilities in photonics packaging and system integration. Bay Photonics, founded in 2007 and based at the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre in Paignton (UK), specializes in optical alignment, packaging and assembly of photonic components, in particular photonic integrated circuits. It serves applications in quantum technologies, defense, advanced sensing, medical, marine, aerospace and telecommunications.
The combination of Bay Photonics' packaging expertise with AMS Technologies' system integration, electronics and thermal management capabilities creates a portfolio of packaged photonic components, integrated modules and production-ready assemblies. The combined platform, with sites in Paignton, Hanover and Krakow, primarily addresses high-mix/low-volume applications and is aimed at robust, European supply chains "in Europe, for Europe". Bay Photonics will retain its team, management and location.
