ams Osram strengthens Digital Photonics business and addresses AI data centers
The company reports sales of EUR 796 million and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 16.5% for the first quarter of 2026

The core semiconductor business grew by 9% year-on-year after adjusting for currency effects. Free cash flow including divestment proceeds amounted to EUR 37 million. The first effects of the "Simplify" efficiency program were realized.
In Digital Photonics, the company is pushing ahead with two key areas: a portfolio of optical components for augmented reality glasses was presented, with an addressable sales potential of EUR 50 to 100 per device, depending on volume and life cycle. In addition, ams Osram has signed a development agreement with an established partner in the AI data center ecosystem to use its digital photonics technologies for optical interconnects.
The sale of the Entertainment and Industrial Lamps business to Ushio has been completed and the sale of the non-optical sensor business to Infineon is expected by mid-year. The company sees a path to positive free cash flow in 2027.
