The AMA Association for Sensors and Measurement reports stagnating sales in the second quarter of 2025, following a four percent increase in sales in the first quarter. Incoming orders fell by 6%, resulting in a slightly lower book-to-bill ratio of 0.96. Nevertheless, a moderate increase of two percent is forecast for the third quarter. The export share is 56%, with Europe as the leading market.
The industry is facing weak domestic demand, high energy prices and geopolitical tensions. Philipp Gutmann, Managing Director of the AMA Association, emphasizes the need to strengthen innovation and export strategies, particularly in the areas of digitalization, automation and AI. Challenges include trade barriers, declining demand and regulatory adjustments. AI is increasingly seen as a growth driver, with 34% of companies using or planning to use AI in marketing, R&D and services.
