A Funeral Parade for the Frame Grabber?

GigE, FireWire, USB .... you can't help but hearing obituaries for the frame grabber from all directions. Has the concept of frame grabber outlived its usefulness? Is this ­component obsolete? We think: no. And this is why we asked  the experts "In which machine vision ­applications will the frame grabber
