Painted plastic parts are placed in the system. High-resolution image processing (50MP) with special dome lighting detects even the smallest surface defects.

The positions of the surface defects are transferred to the robot in 2D space and converted into 6 robot coordinates in 3D space. Depending on the type and class of defect, the robot first performs a grinding process and then two different polishing processes, including tool changes.

Previously, these processes could only be performed manually by employees using hand grinding and hand polishing tools. Staff shortages led to production bottlenecks, which could be compensated for with this solution.
