Jenoptik achieved strong sales growth in 2022
15.02.2023 - Jenoptik's sales rose by 30 percent in the 2022 fiscal year. In the current fiscal year, the executive board aims to exceed the 1 billion euro sales mark.
Based on preliminary figures, sales in Jenoptik's continuing operations rose by over 30 percent to around 980 million euros. Organic growth was around 11 percent, mainly due to continued strong demand in the Advanced Photonic Solutions division. The companies acquired in 2021, BG Medical and the Swissoptic Group, developed better than expected and contributed around 160 million euros to sales.
EBITDA improved by around 47 percent on a comparable basis to around 184 million euros, thus outpacing sales. The EBITDA margin rose accordingly to 18.8 percent compared to 16.7 percent in the previous year.
Order intake remains high
In the past fiscal year, order intake increased organically and due to acquisitions by approximately 27 percent to around 1.2 billion euros. All divisions contributed to this growth, but in particular the Advanced Photonic Solutions division. At around 734 million euros, the order backlog was more than 35 percent higher than at the end of 2021.
Outlook very positive: one billion euros in sales expected
Based on the good order intake, the high order backlog and the continued positive development in the photonic core businesses, particularly in the semiconductor equipment area, the Executive Board of Jenoptik expects the company to continue to grow profitably in fiscal year 2023. Jenoptik thus expects sales of between 1.05 and 1.1 billion euros in the current fiscal year, corresponding to growth of 7 to 12 percent. The EBITDA margin is expected to be between 19 and 19.5 percent.
