Spectaris welcomes Sylvi Claußnitzer as new Head of Regulatory Affairs

10.01.2025 - The graduate engineer for technical environmental protection took over from Corinna Mutter on January 1.

At the turn of the year, the German industry association Spectaris introduced its new Head of Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability. Sylvi Claußnitzer will focus in particular on European and German environmental policy and environmental law.

The tasks of the environmental protection engineer include the co-design and practical implementation of regulations for the safe handling of chemicals and products, in particular within the framework of the European RoHS and REACH regulations. The current focus here is on the PFAS substance group. It also deals with the environmentally friendly manufacture, use and disposal of products, the promotion of recycling and the circular economy as well as the integration of sustainable practices in production and supply chains.

“With Sylvi Claußnitzer, we are gaining a proven expert who will contribute her extensive experience to achieve a measurable reduction in bureaucracy and support our member companies with the complex regulatory requirements,” explains Spectaris Managing Director Jörg Mayer. “Her focus on chemicals policy, waste management and sustainability perfectly complements our commitment to a sustainable and competitive industry.”

Sylvi Claußnitzer succeeds Corinna Mutter, who will be taking on new professional challenges abroad. Jörg Mayer acknowledges her outstanding achievements: “We would like to thank Corinna Mutter warmly for her many years of extremely dedicated service at Spectaris. She has contributed significantly to the successful implementation of numerous projects. We very much regret her departure and wish her all the best for the future and continued success.”

Before joining Spectaris, Claußnitzer was Managing Director of the German RETech Partnership. There she coordinated projects to promote exports in the German circular economy and recycling industry and worked in national and international networks.

Previously, Claußnitzer held leading positions in various associations: At the German Construction Industry Association ZDB, she headed the environmental policy department with a focus on resource efficiency, waste legislation and chemicals policy. At the German Mechanical and Plant Engineering Association VDMA, she was responsible for environmental and technology policy with a focus on chemicals policy and the EU Circular Economy. She also worked at the German Metals Association WVM as a consultant for chemicals policy, where she represented the interests of the non-ferrous metals industry.

Spectaris is focusing on specialization with the dual leadership in the field of regulatory affairs: Sylvi Claußnitzer is responsible for environmental policy and sustainability, while Nadine Benad continues to oversee the areas of medical technology and in-vitro diagnostics (IVD). “”With their expertise, Sylvi Claußnitzer and Nadine Benad form a strong dual leadership team that, together with the Regulatory Affairs team, will guide our members through the increasingly complex requirements in a future-proof manner,” says Mayer.
