PhotonicNet appoints Moritz Hinkelmann as Managing Director

Successor to long-standing managing director Thomas Fahlbusch introduced.

The stakeholders of PhotonicNet GmbH have appointed Dr Moritz Hinkelmann from the LZH as the new managing director. He succeeds Dr-Ing Thomas Fahlbusch, who is devoting himself to other professional challenges.

“We are delighted to have found an experienced and well-connected new managing director for PhotonicNet GmbH in Dr. Hinkelmann,” says Philipp Becker, shareholder spokesman and managing director of Vision Lasertechnik. “At the same time, we would like to thank Dr. Fahlbusch for his many years of successful work. In the 15 years of his leadership, the network has achieved important milestones and made valuable offers to its members. We wish him all the best for the future and every success in his future endeavors.”

Dr. Moritz Hinkelmann has extensive experience and expertise in photonic technologies. After studying optical technologies, he completed his doctorate at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Dr. Hinkelmann has been working at the Laser Zentrum Hannover since 2016, where he has headed the Optical Systems group in the Laser Development department since 2020.

From 2021 to June 2024, Dr Hinkelmann was managing director of the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Lasertechnik und Photonik e.V. (WLT).

PhotonicNet GmbH was founded in 2000 on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as a regional competence network for optical technologies in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. It is a member of OptecNet Deutschland, the nationwide association of nine regional networks in the field of optical technologies in Germany at national level.
