Unable to find a motor that is small enough and offers the necessary efficiency and power under battery operation, Dr. Fritz Faulhaber developed his own solution in the mid-1950s and invented a groundbreaking drive technology with the ironless self-supporting helical winding, which not only solved his camera problem, but also laid the foundation for the future of miniaturization in many application areas worldwide.
