Faulhaber is celebrating 75 years

Company started with motor for famous camera "Vitessa"

14.07.2022 - The history of Faulhaber begins at the end of the 1940s with the founding of the "Feinmechnische Werkstätten" by the young engineer Dr. Fritz Faulhaber in Schoenaich.

While he was still working on the revolutionary “Vitessa” camera model, which he was developing for the well-known company Voigtländer, he had the idea of using an electric motor to transport the film. Unable to find a motor that is small enough and offers the necessary efficiency and power under battery operation, Dr. Fritz Faulhaber developed his own solution in the mid-1950s and invented a groundbreaking drive technology with the ironless self-supporting helical winding, which not only solved his camera problem, but also laid the foundation for the future of miniaturization in many application areas worldwide.

Since then, Faulhaber has been at the forefront of driving the global trend towards ongoing miniaturization with innovative micro-actuator solutions. The equally creative and pragmatic spirit of the founding father characterizes the company to this day. At Faulhaber, people think long-term, observe carefully and act proactively - or as Dr. Fritz Faulhaber Junior, son of the founder, put it modestly: "It is our philosophy to always be one step ahead of the competition in terms of technology - but the nose should not be a meter long."
