Sensor system detects contours and corrects shadows

In order to evenly distribute parcels on a conveyor belt to downstream stations, the occupancy of the conveyor belt must be recorded. The R2000 Lidar sensor is mounted in the centre of the conveyor belt. Due to the central sensor position, shadows from parcels fall on the conveyor belt, which would falsify the measurement results of the system. However, the interaction between the high angular resolution of the R2000 2D lidar sensor and an intelligent algorithm enables the correction of these shadows. The algorithm as well as the further processing of the raw data of the lidar sensor takes place on the Multi Scan Evaluation Unit (MSEU) of the sensor system. The two components sensor and MSEU enable a quick assembly of the system.
