Zeiss expands location in Dresden
25.11.2022 - The Digital Innovation division needs more space for a growing team at the Dresden location
Zeiss wants to give the go-ahead for the expansion of the Dresden site before the end of this year. Zeiss' plans are also the reason for a visit by Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer to Zeiss Digital Innovation (formerly Saxonia Systems AG). On Tuesday evening he gained a deeper insight into the company's projects and got a precise picture of the construction plans.
Zeiss would like to create additional space for modern workspaces, offices, conference rooms and laboratories for Zeiss employees at the Fritz-Foerster-Platz site. 193 employees are currently employed here. In a first step, the extension to the building at Fritz-Foerster-Platz 2 will begin this year. More than a hundred new jobs are to be created on six floors. In a second construction phase, an extension on a 1650 m² plot on Bergstraße is planned in the medium term. The building permit is already available. After completion, a total of over 400 jobs will be available. The Zeiss Group is planning to invest an amount in the double-digit millions in the entire complex.
Strengthening the Zeiss location in Dresden and working more closely with the TU Dresden is a component of Zeiss' global innovation strategy. This aims to further expand the company's presence in the vicinity of research clusters and to ensure better networking with representatives from science and industry. Furthermore, Zeiss would like to find talented people in the region who are willing to help shape the innovative technologies of tomorrow.
