Enis Ersü, a research assistant at the time, founded Isra Vision as a spin-off from Darmstadt Technical University. The company was one of the first to strategically focus its business case on combining machine vision with robotics and automation. This is reflected in the name: ISRA, which stands for Intelligent Systems Robotics & Automation.

After the first ten years, the decisive step was taken with a focus exclusively on machine vision. Isra Vision has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2000. Today, the company has 25 locations in over 15 countries. More than 850 employees generated sales of approximately 129 million euros (fiscal year 2019/20). The year before, sales were just under 154 million euros.

"I have had the privilege of working with a great team for more than 36 years; I am grateful to all my employees, colleagues, customers and partners who have accompanied me on many interesting stages, and have supported changes, strategic measures and courageous decisions," says Ersü.

Ersü has also left his mark on industry associations. The founding of the "Vision Club," the first German industry association for machine vision, was a milestone for him. The integration then into the VDMA, the years of service on the board at the VDMA and the co-founding of the EMVA were also important steps.

Succession on the Isra board settled

The company is currently headed by a three-member management team: Tomas Lundin recently joined the team. The board members Hans Jürgen Christ and Dr. Johannes Giet continue to be on board.

In addition, Ersü is convinced that with the takeover by the Atlas Copco Group it has found a sustainable industrial partner with which Isra Vision - independently in the new Machine Vision division - can continue to pursue the growth path it has embarked upon in the fields of Surface Vision and 3D Machine Vision.
