Siko: 60 years of sensors and positioning systems

03.05.2023 - This year, Siko looks back on 60 years of company history.

Siko manufactures angle and length measuring systems. The company was founded in 1963 by Günther Wandres, who took over a small product group from the previous company, handwheels with position indicators, when he sold the company for drive technology, which he had managed until then.

Following the success of the mechanical position indicators, digital position indicators were introduced to the market in the mid-1970s, which for the first time enabled readings accurate to a tenth of a millimeter. In addition, the company increasingly devoted itself to the development of electronic measuring systems for displacement and angle measurement.

In the meantime, around 250 employees work for Siko in five subsidiaries worldwide, 200 of them in Germany. The company has three business divisions and an additional German production and administration site in Bad Krozingen. In the "Mobile Automation" segment, Siko focuses on robust sensors that are suitable for the harsh operating conditions of mobile machines.  Sven Wischnewski, who has been Managing Director at Siko since 2014, is largely responsible for the course set in recent years.
