At the PI joint stand in Hall 9, Stand D68, developments and innovations relating to Profibus and Profinet, IO-Link, omlox, MTP and NOA as well as the robot interface SRCI will be presented on 300 square meters. “With our refreshed trade fair concept, we not only want to discuss the latest developments and corresponding benefits with interested users, but also get young engineers excited about our technologies,” promises Xaver Schmidt, Chairman of PI.
 

Without standards there can be no reliability

Whether high-motion applications or the integration of additional information from cameras, the reliable provision of data is the be-all and end-all for innovative and exciting applications and is also becoming increasingly important in the OT world. A lot of additional knowledge is now stored in clouds or on the edge and the data is delivered in different ways, e.g. B. from your own network, via that of another participant or wirelessly. “This requires broad know-how not only about communication technology, but also knowledge about safety applications, security, data analytics and energy management,” says Schmidt, referring to the current challenges.
 

New technology demos

The new technology demos at the Hannover Messe show how this is implemented in practice. The IO-Link wireless demo proves that the connection can be solved very easily over the last few meters. And an MTP demo impressively illustrates how modular plant construction is inspiring the process industry. “The demos show how data from a system, a machine or a sensor can be easily generated and used even more easily for efficient and sustainable production,” says Schmidt. “Without data, there is no innovation. But for this to happen, they have to be made available to an application in such a way that they can also be processed!”

In this regard, PI has been setting standards for cross-company interoperability for decades. This is ensured by precise specifications, high-quality test tools, global certification, test laboratories, competence and training centers and more than 50 working groups. Users can therefore rely on robust and practical technologies for secure and reliable data transmission.
