After a three-year break, the international photonics industry was finally reunited at the Laser World of Photonics trade fair in Munich from April 26 – 29, 2022. In total, nine hundred exhibitors from more than thirty countries had the opportunity to present high-tech trends and establish new collaborations.

Photonics Germany, the alliance of Spectaris and OptecNet Deutschland, was represented twice: OptecNet Deutschland was once again exhibiting at its large and well-known joint booth with 18 co-exhibitors, including companies, research institutions, and start-ups. Spectaris took part in the new World of Quantum theme area with an information booth and also represented Photonics Germany. The new exhibition area provides a platform for the professional exchange of researchers, manufacturers, and users in the field of quantum technology. The World of Quantum highlighted initial use cases and current research results of this future technology.

Photonics Germany represented the innovative strength of its more than five hundred members in the field of optical and quantum technology at the trade fair. Photonics Germany strengthens the position of the German high-tech industry at both a national and a European level – the alliance initiates activities to strengthen the competitiveness of companies and research institutions. In particular, the framework conditions for photonics and quantum technology are to be further improved and funding opportunities are to be developed in a targeted manner. Photonics Germany offers its services to the political community as a representative point of contact, especially on the topics of funding policy, legislation and securing skilled workers. It also acts as a central dialog partner for international associations.
