Leadership change at Smaract

Michael Weigel-Jech takes over as CEO of the high-precision positioning technology company.

After 18 years at the helm and achieving international success in the development and manufacturing of high-precision positioning technology, company founder Axel Kortschack is handing over the management of Smaract to Michael Weigel-Jech.

“A few years ago, we at SmarAct decided to take new paths. With small, interdisciplinary, and semi-autonomous teams, we have reduced bureaucracy and increased our agility and customer proximity. This has worked excellently,” explains Kortschack. The next challenge is for all teams to master the balance between quick, uncomplicated work and adherence to stabilizing agreements, so that the company can continue to grow together with its customers.

Michael Weigel-Jech, who knows the company and its customers very well through his long-standing affiliation and various leadership roles, has shown that he consistently motivates his teams to develop further and do their best in the common interest. These are ideal conditions to take on the tasks of managing the company.

“Axel has guided the company from a startup through its formative early stages and now through a somewhat stormier adolescence to a corporate group with three independent business units. We are all very grateful for that,” emphasizes Weigel-Jech.
