Endress+Hauser receives platinum seal for sustainability
New position of Corporate Social Responsibility Officer introduced
With the total number of points achieved, the Endress+Hauser Group will again receive platinum status for corporate social responsibility (CSR) in 2022. “Of course, our sustainability journey continues. The platinum status shows that we are on the right track,” says Matthias Altendorf, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group.
In order to continue to meet the growing demands on the topic of sustainability in the future, Endress+Hauser has created the new position of Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, which Julia Schempp has held since April. She is responsible for the Group's sustainability strategy and drives improvements in ecological, ethical and social matters with appropriate concepts, initiatives and activities. A Group-wide CO2 target is to be defined before the end of 2022; work is also being done on the development of further CSR indicators for the entire group of companies.
In the EcoVadis benchmark, Endress+Hauser achieved very good results in all areas evaluated. "We appreciate the feedback from the EcoVadis experts and take the suggestions for improvement from the detailed evaluation very seriously," says Julia Schempp. The sustainability performance in the areas of the environment, labor standards and human rights was particularly positively highlighted. "We can only maintain our position in the benchmark if we constantly improve."
Growing importance
Sustainability is becoming more and more of a business factor. "We now receive inquiries from our customers and partners about our CSR activities almost every day," says Gerd Gritsch, Corporate Director Quality at Endress+Hauser. He adds: “We support our customers in producing sustainably. That is why we have to set a good example in our own business and production processes.”
The topic of CSR is also important to more and more employees. When constructing a new office and production building in Reinach, Endress+Hauser focused entirely on environmental and climate protection. This also included suggestions from employees who regularly work in a working group to look for new approaches to greater sustainability. Among other things, this gave rise to the idea of locating two colonies of bees on the roof of the building. A hobby beekeeper who works at Endress+Hauser takes care of the animals – and has already harvested the first honey.
