Chairman of the European Executive Forum for Advanced Manufacturing introduced
Matthias Bölke is now committed to a modern, digital and more sustainable manufacturing industry
The goal of EFAM is to bring international suppliers and users of advanced technology solutions for the manufacturing industry together in a regular format in order to develop common impulses for European industrial policy. The Committee, which first met in December 2021, also serves as an advisory body to the Orgalim Board of Directors.
As an experienced expert in the fields of industrial automation and energy management, Dr. Matthias Bölke has held various management positions for many years. In addition to his function as VP strategy for the industrial business on a global level at the tech group Schneider Electric, the new EFAM chairman is involved in various committees and associations specializing in digitization topics.
As the sponsor of the EFAM, the international industry association Orgalim not only represents a large number of European companies from the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and metal technology sectors, but is also co-curator of the so-called Task Force 5 of the EU Industry Forum. The specific task of this Task Force 5 is to accelerate the development and use of advanced technology solutions for the manufacturing industry across the EU. The main focus is on the rapid implementation of a digital transformation, which not least aims to establish more sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. The Executive Forum for Advanced Manufacturing will support Task Force 5 with its work.
Matthias Bölke has been active in the fields of robot research, automation, energy management and digitization for 30 years. After an academic career with a doctorate in Advanced Robotics, he went into business and was involved in several national and international management functions at Square D, Telemecanique and later Schneider Electric, most recently as CEO of country organizations at Schneider. He spent more than half of his professional career abroad and returned to Germany 3 years ago. Today he is VP Strategy Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric in a global position. He is involved in several board positions and industrial committees and is the chairman of the board of the recently formed Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA).
