After Automate was already held in Detroit last year and was actually already held out of order again at the same location this year, the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) has now decided to always hold the automation trade show annually from now on. Next year it will be in Chicago, then again in Detroit in 2025.

With 757 exhibitors and a good 30,000 visitors, this year's Automate achieved a significant increase compared to the previous year with around 600 exhibitors and 24,000 participants. The organizer is correspondingly satisfied: "I want to take a moment to thank all the sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and attendees who contributed to making Automate 2023 such a tremendous success," says Jeff Burnstein, president of A3.

The show filled four exhibit halls, keynote speakers each day, on-floor discussion panels, a start-up competition and a continuing education conference with seminars on topics such as robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision and motion control presented by more than 200 industry experts.

Start-up competition: victory for robotic company

On the second day of Automate, nine technology startups competed to win the Phoenix Contact Startup Challenge.

Estat Actuation was selected by a panel of venture capitalists for its breakthrough technologies and received a $10,000 cash prize. Estat's electro-bonded products are lighter and more compact, as well as more efficient than traditional versions, enabling new solutions for robotic joints, tool gripping and free-moving robotic designs.

Next year, Automate will be held May 6-9 at McCormick Place in Chicago, and the show will return to Detroit May 12-15, 2025.
