Image Processing Four Times Faster than Before

B&R

05.05.2022 - B&R has increased the execution speed of several machine vision functions. Thanks to a new quad-core processor and a just-in-time compiler, vision tasks are executed up to four times faster than before. Machine builders can thus significantly increase the throughput of their machines - without having to use expensive vision PCs.

With the latest Steady version of the Halcon library, the B&R vision system now also has a just-in-time compiler (JIT). The program code to be executed is already created with the compiler when the application is loaded and not interpreted at runtime.

In addition, the advantages of the new smart sensor version with quad-core processor come into play with multicore-capable vision algorithms. The higher computing power makes it possible, for example, to almost halve the cycle times for matching applications.
