Fail-safe communication in the 5 GHz band

ICD Hamburg

Transferring industrial data from fieldbus systems to hard-to-reach locations without loss and with the highest level of reliability also works without the need for cabling. A suitable solution is the combination of echo ringing with Schildknecht's patented Dataeagle technology.

In contrast to classic WLAN installations, echo ringing uses the 5 GHz frequency band for data transmission, which at the same time guarantees stable and interference-free operation with low latency times. The advantages are particularly noticeable where machines and systems have to be integrated into existing fieldbus systems from narrow areas or distributed over several floors.

As an alternative to the complex installation of cable connections or for the control of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), data is already transmitted wirelessly via WLAN in many places. The fieldbus requirements with regard to short cycle times and absolute reliability are difficult to meet in the common 2.4 GHz frequency band.
