Energy meters for control or regulation systems

Carlo Gavazzi

Carlo Gavazzi is expanding its range of energy meters with the EM500 series. EM540 is designed for direct measurement up to 65 A, EM530 measures via external 5A current transformers.

With an update time of less than 100 ms via the serial interface and a measurement resolution of 0.001 kWh, the EM540 and EM530 are suitable as a data source for control or regulation systems. The 3HP wide meters for DIN rail mounting are equipped with a display with a backlight that can be set via programming or the interface. The display can be operated intuitively using three pushbuttons. A configuration assistant enables correct installation, parameter setting and commissioning within a few seconds using the free UCS software. Suitable for two and three phase systems up to 415 V L-L, the EM530 and EM540 energy meters monitor energy consumption, main electrical quantities and load harmonic distortion. In addition to the digital input for tariff management and the S0 pulse output, the energy meters are available with a Modbus RTU or M-Bus communication interface for data transfer. They comply with the standards IEC/EN 62053-21 for measurement accuracy and IEC/EN 61557-12 for performance. The two devices are offered with and without MID certification.
