Drive technology with Industrial Ethernet technology
10.11.2022 - At the SPS, EBM-Papst presented the ECI-63 internal rotor motors from the modular drive system for the first time, which are equipped with an EtherCAT interface.
EtherCAT combines the advantages of Ethernet-based communication with the simplicity of classic fieldbus systems, which means that complex IT solutions can be avoided. Within the ECI series , drives with an integrated bus interface ‑have been established for some time under the term K5 electronic functionality. The internal rotor motors can now also be addressed via EtherCAT . For this purpose, high-performance interface electronics including a multi-protocol chip were added to the drive housing. The advantages of decentralized drives are primarily the synchronization of several axes, the reduced integration effort and a space-saving design in the machine.
With the new RadiPac series , EBM-Papst has succeeded in improving existing centrifugal fans: They work with significantly higher efficiencies, higher speeds ensure more volume flow and higher pressures, so that even high-pressure applications can be covered. The newly developed impeller reduces flow losses and further reduces noise. In order to do justice to different installation situations, the RadiPac series is available in a standard and a short version. Both variants are available as a motor-impeller combination or as a ready-to-install plug & play solution with a suspension spider construction.
