Absolute rotary encoder with BiSS-C interface

The high-precision magnetic absolute rotary encoders of the Ixarc series from Posital will soon also be available with a BiSS C interface. The encoders with this open source high-performance interface are predestined for the commutation and position feedback of brushless DC motors.

Thanks to their robust design, high accuracy (17-bit resolution) and their excellent dynamics (up to 12,000 rpm), the new BiSS C types of the IXARC series are suitable for demanding motion control applications - for example in medical devices. In many applications they can easily replace conventional resolvers.

In multi-turn operation, the BISS-C encoders rely on counting electronics with a 32-bit microprocessor, which is designed for two billion revolutions. The rotation counter is powered independently with the help of energy harvesting using the Wiegand effect, so that the movements of the trailing shaft can be recorded without gaps even when the power is off.
