The future, made in Stuttgart – preparations for autumn fairs in full swing

13.06.2024 - Joint event for Quantum Effects and hy-fcell 2024 by Landesmesse Stuttgart.

Stuttgart will be all about the future on 8 and 9 October 2024. Two major events relating to future technologies will open their doors simultaneously at Messe Stuttgart. The events in question are Quantum Effects, which is being held this year for the second time after its successful première in 2023, and hy-fcell, one of the longest-standing and most important international trade fairs for the hydrogen and fuel cell industry.

During a joint press conference on 5 June 2024 in the press center at Messe Stuttgart, journalists were able to gain an impression of the importance of the topics for the region and find out what will be on offer at the two trade fairs.

Quantum Effects will focus again this year on the topics of computing and enabling technologies, software, sensing and communication. In 2024 artificial intelligence (AI) and high power computing (HPC) will also feature in the program of the trade fair and conference for quantum technologies for the first time. hy-fcell will concentrate this year on heavy-goods transport, for example, as it represents a highly promising application area for fuel cells. This year’s event will also examine different methods of hydrogen production and the installation and expansion of a hydrogen filling station and pipeline network in Germany. Visitors will therefore experience the complete process chain for hydrogen at hy-fcell.

The topics of training and further training will play an important role at both events. In addition to the Quantum Effects Academy, a hy-fcell Academy will also form part of the accompanying program for the first time. Various technical tours on 10 October will round off the program and will provide on the day after the trade fairs a deeper insight into the area of quanta, hydrogen and fuel cells in the Stuttgart region.

Gerd Krieger, managing director of the VDMA working group for fuel cells, and Bernd Reuter, head of the hydrogen department at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, discussed questions relating to the topics of hydrogen and fuel cell technology.

Dr Katrin Kobe, CEO of Bosch Quantum Sensing, the hosting partner of Quantum Effects, and Prof Dr Jens Anders, head of the Institute for Intelligent Sensors and Theoretical Electrical Engineering at Stuttgart University, focused on the topic of quantum technologies.

“Quantum technologies will not only help to improve existing processes, they are also opening up new future opportunities in medical technology, mobility and many other areas. They have the potential to change our society and economy. To this end, the next step is to master commercialization, especially in the area of quantum sensors, said Dr Kobe.

The two trade fairs hy-fcell and Quantum Effects will not only be held concurrently in October 2024 at Messe Stuttgart, they will also be accompanied by Vision, the world’s leading trade fair for machine vision, and In.Stand which will examine the topics of maintenance and services. Visitors will have the opportunity with their Quantum Effects ticket or hy-fcell ticket to attend the other concurrent events as well, thereby attaining an extensive overview.
