New Photonics Finland board

Timo Vuorenpää from Senop handed over the position to Juha Toivonen from University of Tampere

13.09.2021 - On the 24th of August, the Photonics Finland spring-meeting elected the new board for upcoming two years, including a new chairman and deputy chairman. For equal and smooth decision making, every two years the chairman position changes between academia and industry. Now previous chairman Timo Vuorenpää from Senop handed over the position to Juha Toivonen from the University of Tampere.

Currently Photonics in Finland develops at high speed. Many companies are recruiting and growing significantly. Based on 2020 survey the whole photonics industry in Finland grows 38 % annually. The biggest markets are in industry solutions and in health sector.

In global business, Finland is a small but agile player that has solutions for many upcoming challenges from achieving the European Green Deal or to tackle climate change. Key for success in Finland is the close collaboration between academia and industry coordinated trhough Photonics Finland.
