Siemens has announced the acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc., a provider of software for computational science and AI. Altair shareholders will receive $113 per share, representing an enterprise value of approximately $10 billion. This acquisition strengthens Siemens' position as a leading technology company and expands its AI-powered design and simulation portfolio. Siemens expects significant cost and revenue synergies and expects the transaction to be accretive to earnings per share starting in the second year after closing.

Dr. Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens, emphasizes that Altair's competencies in simulation, high-performance computing, data science and AI ideally complement Siemens' portfolio. The acquisition is expected to increase revenue in Siemens' digital business by 8%. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2025. Altair Engineering is headquartered in Troy, Michigan, and employs over 3,500 people.
