RS Components expands distribution center

RS Components has inaugurated its expanded distribution center at the Bad Hersfeld location. It's the biggest in the company. After the project has now been completed from the technical point of view, RS gave selected customers and suppliers a deep insight into the highly automated system. In particular, the largest multi-shuttle system installed in Germany by the manufacturer Dematic is used here.

The ultra-modern facility will expand the previous storage area by around 16,000 m² to around 37,000 m². This creates additional space for a larger product range and higher inventory, which will benefit both suppliers and customers. In addition, a new, modern warehouse management system with the most advanced inventory management processes is used. In this way, RS can offer an even higher level of service and further improved delivery reliability.

The installed multi-shuttle system is enormous. It will provide the ability to manage 300,000 plastic storage containers that can be stored and retrieved at a rate of 9,000 trays per hour.

With a solar power system on the roof, RS also takes ecological aspects into account. In addition, RS is bringing inventory closer to suppliers and customers as the company expands the number of products stored on site to over 450,000. In this way, RS significantly improves the CO2 balance. In addition, this ensures that the distribution center meets the requirements of an EU-wide and global role even better.
