Lapp and Heilbronn University have agreed to cooperate to promote women in STEM fields. The “Ursula Ida Lapp Doctoral Scholarship” supports female doctoral candidates with up to 100,000 euros. The aim is to create more equal opportunities for women with special challenges. The scholarship is aimed at women up to the age of 40 from Germany and abroad who would like to do a doctorate at Heilbronn University. Special consideration is given to women with a refugee or migrant background, who are raising children or have caring responsibilities.

The funding amounts to 1,800 euros per month and generally runs for three years. Further support such as child allowances and travel allowances are possible. Lapp also offers non-material support through mentoring and workshops. Professor Ruth Fleuchaus emphasizes the importance of the cooperation for the career advancement of women in science.
