Former Quality Thin Films continues manufacturing as Edmund Optics Florida
Laser optics production
With the acquisition by Edmund Optics, Quality Thin Films (QTF) as a manufacturer of laser optics is able to develop and coat optics with low GDD. In addition, Edmund Optics now has the measurement technology needed to verify specifications.
Edmund Optics uses white light interferometers and an in-house ultrashort pulse laser to measure GDD to verify the performance of these optics in real-world environments. Low GDD optics from Edmund Optics Florida are measured prior to shipment to ensure compliance with GDD specifications from 250 to 3,200 nm within +/- 10 fs2.
Optics with high LIDT
In addition, Edmund Optics Florida's high LIDT optics, such as the Nd:YAG and Yb:YAG laser line mirrors, offer guaranteed laser damage thresholds with an in-house laser testing laboratory. Each laser line coating design is tested to ensure high LIDT under continuous wave as well as pulsed laser operating conditions.
Low GDD optics reduce chromatic aberration and pulse propagation in ultrashort pulse laser systems, resulting in higher peak powers. High LIDT optics, on the other hand, reduce the likelihood of damage and system failure in high-power applications such as laser cutting, drilling and welding.
