Among nearly 200 innovations, the jury found the patented AQW process from Evosys Laser particularly worthy of the award. The new variant of laser welding of plastics combines two laser beam sources and wavelengths. “This approach is aimed in particular at significantly reducing welding times and extending the process window in quasi-simultaneous welding,” explains Lea Sauerwein, responsible development engineer at Evosys. By using two different wavelengths, the input of radiant energy and heat can be better controlled. This enables a more reliable and faster welding process.

The award ceremony took place on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Swabian chamber of industry and commerce in Augsburg, Germany. The Bavarian minister of cconomic affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, personally congratulated the winners and awarded them the coveted prize.

“We consider the Bavarian Innovation Award as a great recognition for our efforts in research and development, especially under the challenging general conditions of the last years”, Frank Brunnecker and Holger Aldebert, managing directors of Evosys Laser, are pleased to say.
