Denkweit and IDS cooperate

The Fraunhofer spin-off Denkweit and the machine vision company IDS will join forces

Since the beginning of the year there has been a sales cooperation between the "thinkers" from Halle an der Saale and the Obersulm industrial camera manufacturer. "We see it as our task to make highly complex technologies as easily accessible and usable as possible," explains Jan Hartmann, IDS Managing Director. "In particular, we would like to continue to intensively promote the topic of artificial intelligence." Although AI plays a key role in the digital age, many companies still have reservations, so that urgently needed automation processes fall by the wayside due to the lack of acceptance. However, the potential that self-learning algorithms offer, not least in connection with image processing, is great. "We would like to encourage companies to significantly improve their processes and products by using new possibilities of automation and digitization," says Jan Hartmann. The partnership with Denkweit is a logical consequence. "Our vision is to perfect image analysis for industrial applications by making complex technologies available in a simple, structured and customized way," emphasizes its CEO Dr. Dominik Lausch.

This should be achieved through a high degree of usability and a clear focus on the actual, simplest possible solution. "It's not about the method behind it, it's not about how highly complex the image analysis actually is. It is important that both integrators and end customers receive an easy-to-use solution from us, even for tasks that were previously considered unsolvable," says Dominik Lausch. The IDS company philosophy "It's so easy" hits the core of the cooperation.

This was already in the offing in 2021, when the founders from Saxony-Anhalt drew attention to themselves at the AI competition of IDS' own online marketplace visionpier. Numerous startups presented solutions from the AI vision area. Denkweit convinced with an AI-supported surveillance system for security-relevant areas with the help of drones.

The versatile applicability of the underlying solution gave the team of physicists and engineers the opportunity to present themselves free of charge at the Vision image processing trade fair in the same year. Now both companies want to use what they have in common and the resulting synergies.
