19.04.2023 - The official declaration of intent to nominate Canada as the partner country of the Hannover Messe 2025 was signed at the Hannover Messe
On Monday, Isabelle Poupart, Minister and Deputy Head of the Embassy of Canada in Germany, and Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, the official declaration of intent to nominate Canada as the partner country of the Hannover Messe 2025 at the Hannover Messe finalized.
“It is an honor and a great opportunity for Canada to be a part of Germany to host Hannover Messe in 2025. This partnership will help deepen the already strong economic, political and cultural ties between Canada and Germany. We will work hand-in-hand with local and global partners to provide Canadian companies, industry associations and institutions with a platform to showcase Canada as a leading industrial innovation economy at Hannover Messe,” said François-Philippe Champagne, Canada's Minister for Innovation, Science and industry.
When it comes to foreign direct investment in Canada, Germany ranks seventh, with high-tech being the main focus. More than 800 German companies are active in Canada and employ around 70,000 people. Canada and Germany enjoy a dynamic relationship in the fields of science and technology. Since 1971, more than 1,000 joint research projects have been initiated.
The Canadian government and companies from the private sector are currently funding five superclusters in Canada with around 1.2 billion euros in order to strengthen innovative industries and position them internationally. The aim is to create 50,000 jobs and economic growth of EUR 34 billion over the next 10 years. Three of the superclusters - SCALE.AI, Advanced Manufacturing and Digital Technology - are key topics at the Hannover Messe.
