Basler Announces AI Platform for Machine Vision
Machine learning based on Amazon Web Services
Completely, the platform consists of everything needed for an embedded edge vision system: A camera, an embedded processing unit with all the necessary accessories, and Basler's Pylon Camera Software Suite. The latter is now compatible with the AWS Panorama Device SDK, which enables the use of cloud-based artificial intelligence or machine learning from within the application and thus greatly simplifies it.
With this platform, Basler is targeting application areas that require low latencies, but where only limited bandwidth is available. More details are provided in a video based on a joint presentation by Basler and AWS at Hannover Messe 2021 Digital Edition.
Details on Basler's AI platform for machine vision.
The AI platform for machine vision includes a 5 MP Ace series camera with GigE interface. The edge computing unit is based on the recently introduced Nvidia Jetson TX2NX module, which achieves 1.33 TFlops. Basler's Pylon Camera Software Suite, which is compatible with the AWS Panorama SDK, is installed on the machine vision platform.
The integration of AWS Panorama enables the deployment and execution of AI/ML applications on edge devices, and also makes it possible to constantly check the quality of inference. In addition, Amazon Lookout for Vision can be used, for example, to create machine learning models to visually detect anomalies (e.g., product defects) and thus automate quality checks.
Basler plans to release more details about the platform in the third quarter of 2021.
