13 topical meetings, 3 special sessions and 1 exhibition
This year, the European Optical Society Annual Meeting, EOSAM, took place in Portugal, at the faculty of engineering of the University of Porto, FEUP.
EOSAM 2022 included high-quality program within thirteen Topical Meetings (TOMs), three special sessions and an exhibition. 360 attendees enjoyed the over 300 presentations during the week.
EOS provided nine tutorials relating to the topical meetings on Monday, 12 September. For the sixth time, EOS organized a special session for EU projects, and nine partners were invited to disseminate their goals and results to the conference audience.

The Early Stage Researcher Session was designed for participants in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and who have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Six students made very high-level presentations at the session.
On Tuesday, an industrial optics podium session was held in co-operation with the EOS and EPIC.
Challenges and solutions from companies were highlighted to researchers by Thorlabs, Toptica, Sphere, and GLOPhotonics. Afterwards, a very nice networking reception was enjoyed by all with live music from the faculty TUNA group, together with drinks and snacks.
EOSAM included six fantastic plenary speakers on various topics. The EOS Prize was given out to the best paper published in the Journal of the European Optical Society.
A two-day exhibition was held with Sphere, Thorlabs, Toptica, GloPhotonics, JEOS:RP and EDP Sciences, with a great buzzing at the booths all week.
The welcome reception and all coffee breaks, lunches and the conference dinner, all included in the conference ticket, made sure there was a lot of networking. The conference dinner was held in the magnificent Mosteiro São Bento da Vitória with a full rich history and amazing local delicacies.
The EOS annual general assembly was held on Thursday, 15 September. New fellows were elected, and the newly elected EOS executive committee started their work. The best student presentations were awarded at the end of the conference.
Next year EOSAM takes place in Dijon, France, 11 – 15 September 2023.
