Schneider Electric integrates AI processors from Hailo

21.11.2023 - Schneider Electric is entering into a cooperation with AI chip manufacturer Hailo.

The tech group plans to implement the Israeli manufacturer's high-performance AI accelerators in its industrial automation solutions in the future. The processors from the Hailo 8 series are used. With a computing power of up to 26 tera operations per second (TOPS), the chips offer enormous computing power, enabling the use of advanced machine learning applications and high-precision real-time data analysis at the edge.

Integration of edge AI solutions enables flexible manufacturing and higher output

By seamlessly integrating Hailo-8 AI processors into its industrial automation solutions, Schneider Electric is able to make production environments more flexible and powerful. For example, object recognition for pick-and-place tasks can be carried out at up to six times the speed compared to conventional solutions (CPUs). Within quality management applications, the Hailo 8 system achieves throughput times 20 times faster than classic processors. Thanks to improved yield optimization, scrap rates can be reduced by around 15 percent.
