SEDI-ATI welcomes a new investment fund
28.07.2023 - New holding company, Fiber Optics Group, with Yotta Capital Partners holding a majority stake
SEDI-ATI Fibres Optiques, a specialist in fiber optic components for harsh and extreme environments, reorganizes its shareholding structure and welcomes its new majority shareholder, Yotta Capital Partners, the first French investment fund dedicated to the development and decarbonization of industrial SMEs. The buyout took place on 11 July 2023.
Founded in 1951, the company is recognized as an expert in the design and manufacture of passive components for fiber optic applications, specifically designed for custom applications in harsh and extreme environments. The products have key applications in various markets, such as industrial, medical, energy, aerospace, communication, and research. Manufactured in France, SEDI-ATI’s products are used, for example, in nuclear reactors, medical diagnosis devices or in the Pharao atomic space clock.
In July 2016, the company was taken over by JF Vinchant Holding Strategy (JFVHS), majority-owned by Jean-François Vinchant, chairman and CEO of SEDI-ATI, with the support of the investment fund IDF Capital.
Now seven years later, the exit of IDF Capital provided the opportunity to carry out a capital operation with a new investment fund, Yotta Capital Partners. As the first investment fund dedicated to the development and decarbonization of French industrial SMEs, Yotta is backed by BPIfrance, the European Investment Fund and other leading institutional investors, mainly French.
With Yotta as a new shareholder, the company intends to accelerate its development in the key markets of low-carbon energies, in particular nuclear and wind power, healthcare, and data communication, while continuing to invest in R&D to offer new innovations to its customers. Yotta Capital will also support addressing environmental issues to significantly reduce carbon intensity.
“I am delighted to welcome Yotta as a shareholder. A new holding company, Fiber Optics Group, has been created. It owns 100 % of SEDI-ATI, with Yotta holding a majority stake, in order to consolidate the company’s development and innovation, and also to give it the ressources it needs to pursue external growth. My holding company remains a significant shareholder in the new holding company alongside Yotta, and I therefore continue as president and CEO of SEDI-ATI,” said Jean-François Vinchant.
